Union City Invitational Band Competition

Sound of The Choctaws Marching Band competes in Union City Invitational

Our own Dyer County High School Sound of The Choctaws Marching Band competed with their 2019 field show, ¨Doorwayz¨, at the Union City Invitational this past Saturday; September 14th, 2019. The band competed in preliminary performance as a category 2AA band against Huntingdon High School, Camden High School, and West Carrol high school. 

Our band program is under the instruction of Crissy Miller, Justin Brown, and Micheal Kidd.

For their preliminary run, they received the following awards: Oustanding Percussion, Outstanding Music Effect, Outstanding Visual Effect, and Class Champion. 

Ten bands were then chosen out of the 14 that competed in prelims to move onto finals. Dyer County High School, Huntingdon High School, West Carrol High School, Mt Zumwalt High School, Gibson County High School, Murray High School, Hopkinsville High School, McNairy High School, Henry County High School, and Fayette High School received the highest scores and moved onto finals.

In finals, Dyer County performed for a second time and went on to receive 7th place overall and the final score of 59.950. The placement of 7th place means they beat over half the bands that competed against them!

The band´s performance on Saturday has set them up for what seems like an exceptional season. The band will compete next this coming Saturday; September 21st, 2019, at Bethel University in the Bethel University Renaissance Marching Invitational, so come out and support your band!
