Why Harry Potter is A Good Series For Kids
January 25, 2021
If you’re one of those people who weren’t allowed to watch Harry Potter as a kid, I feel really bad for you; especially if you never ended up watching the movies later on. Just ask any Potterhead and they can give you a thousand reasons why you should watch the movies.
The Harry Potter movie series is completely timeless with the first movie being released in 2001 and the last one coming out in 2011. Sure, they may not be THAT old, but they’ve continued to stay relevant all these years.
As a huge Harry Potter fan myself, I do in fact, strongly recommend watching these movies!
As I mentioned earlier, some kids weren’t allowed to watch the Harry Potter movies due to parents believing it had an association with witchcraft.. I was one of those kids and having watched the movies later on as a teen, I’m not sure why they thought that. Harry Potter is a very kid-friendly series and I’ll even tell you why it’s a good series for kids to watch.
Nowadays, lots of parents prefer their kids to watch shows that enhance their learning, or teach them lessons; which is a good thing, because kids look up to their favorite characters and will want to be like them/act like them. So, it’s important for kids to look up to characters that make good role models.
Harry Potter has this.
Harry Potter has characters with strong values who fight for what’s right. The series shows that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, what matters is who you become and the choices you make along the way. The movies also show the importance of family, and how family doesn’t just mean the people you’re related to biologically, because Harry’s only living blood relatives hated him. Family are the people that truly care about you, and would do anything for you. Harry Potter can teach you to never give up, even when things seem hopeless.
Aside from having positive role models while teaching lessons and important values, this is a series that will definitely keep your kids’ attention. You’ll for sure end up making many happy memories watching Harry Potter together as a family.
