Summer+2021+Activities

Kaitie Lamb

With the weather starting to warm up and summer right around the corner, teens are looking for fun, cheap, and easy things to do with their friends. Here is a list of fun things you can do right here in West TN.

Shave Ice

Everyone loves going to the Shave Ice barn. Plus it is cheap and there are flavors that everyone will love.

Thrift Shopping

Going to thrift stores can be a fun afternoon activity. You and your friends can either shop to shop or shop and upcycle the material into something better than it was. There are a few thrift stores in downtown Dyersburg, as well as GoodWill in Union City.

Jewelry Making

It seems like everyone is starting to make their own jewelry and selling it. Making jewelry could just be a fun activity to do with your friends or a way to make a little money on the side this summer.

Drive-in Movies

Everyone loves watching movies, so why not watch them outside while the weather is warm. The safari in Alamo just opened their drive-in movies for this summer. Memphis, TN has a drive-in movie as well as Camden, TN.

Safari Park/Zoo

Petting and looking at different animals is always a fun activity. If you prefer riding in your car and looking at animals, the Safari Park in Alamo is a great option and it is less than $20. If you want to walk around and see more exotic animals, there is a zoo in Memphis and you could even go shopping at the mall afterward.

Water Fun

Sitting by the pool and soaking up the sun can be an all-day activity for most. Throw in some water balloons or water guns and you have the perfect day. If you are looking for more excitement going to the lake offers both relaxation and excitement.

Go get drinks with your friends

Almost everyone is obsessed with nutrition drinks right now. Go to your favorite nutrition drink shop and start trying all the flavors you have been wanting to. If you’re not a fan of nutrition drinks you can go to The Crazy Straw¬†and have a bubble tea with friends. If all else fails Java is always a hit.
