Not many people have heard of Valerian, or the benefits it has. Valerian is a herb that is native Asia and Europe; it has pink or white flowers with a sweet scent that attracts all kinds of flies. The root of this plant, when taken, provides many benefits. When taken orally, whether in liquid form, powder, or pills, the roots of Valerian will increase the level of GABA. GABA stands for gamma aminobutyric acid, which is a chemical in the brain. GABA is known to help aid in the calming effects within the body, which helps with anxiety. According to MedicineNet, the recommended dosage of the root is 120 to 200 mg which is to be taken three times a day. It is also recommended by MedicineNet that the last dose of Valerian root should be taken before you go to bed.
On the other side of the time spectrum, in the morning, is yoga. Yoga is another great way to handle anxiety without medication. Yoga is easy enough to do as long as you can be calm and collective. Doing yoga can calm your nerves and reach a new level of peace that will overcome a lot of anxiety. Yoga can be done by following a video online, reading about the different poses and techniques, going to a yoga class, or even by hiring a yoga instructor. Yoga can remove you from your sympathetic nervous system, which is the part of your nervous system that controls your response during stress, and put you in parasympathetic response, the other part of the nervous system that controls relaxation. Which basically means yoga removes your stress and replaces it with calmness.
Pets also help remove stress. It is a well known fact that animals can help with stress, anxiety, and depression. Pets make good companions that can provide you with a comforting companion when you need it. When petting a friendly animal, it is shown that the petter’s breathing becomes more regulated, their hate rate slowed down, their blood pressure decreased, and their muscle tension relaxed. All of these effects show that petting an animal can reduce stress and anxiety. Which is a reason why many people have emotional support animals, also known as ESAs. ESAs are known to tend to their owner’s needs and comfort them. They help people with their emotions and attacks they may have and help with loneliness.
