Places to Visit During Spring Break

Bradley Akin and Joshua Aden

No one loves spring break more than us students to get away from school for about a week, but it also gives parents a break too. Although it costs money most parents find it relaxing to just take a week off from work. So when spring break comes around in March, most families like to find the perfect place to spend the week. Although there are hundreds of places to pick from in Tennessee, we chose two popular and enjoyable places for families that don’t want to spend their time searching but would like the best options, not only fun but close too.

First, we have chosen Gatlinburg home to the beautiful Appalachian Mountains in the east/northeast United States. More commonly known here is the Great Smoky Mountains which is surrounded by around 520,000 acres of eastern Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountain national park region. Standing tall with a 360-degree view is the first attraction known as Gatlinburg’s space needle where you can see much of the park from 407 feet in the air. Also housing around 340 rental cabins for you to enjoy while you stay. The most popular attraction known as Ober Gatlinburg has a 2.1-mile tram ride to the top, then many activities can be done once up there including the amusement park and a skiing area. This would be an amazing choice for a spring break trip.

If you love country music this would be the place for you. Nashville Tennessee is home to many country singers and a population of around 6 million people. People often refer to Nashville as the Music City because it houses the Grand Ole Opry, Country Music Hall of Fame, and has held a total of 11,776 concerts in its history. Nashville also has the famous 537,000 square foot hotel and convention center known as the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Yes, Nashville is known for being a music city, but many other attractions can also be enjoyed in this amazing city including a replica of the Parthenon. This attraction is a full-scale replica of the Parthenon and the Athena statue that are located in Athens and close to the exact replica of the Athenian originals. Not only does Nashville provide many excellent sites you can go and see it is also the capital city of our home state Tennessee.

As our third quarter is coming to an end some people might already have a vacation spot picked out for spring break, but some people will not. Let alone these attractions we have listed here, there are also hundreds of others in the state of Tennessee that I’m sure will just as good as some of these that have been stated. I can confidently say that these and many of the other state parks, resorts, and landmarks from experience can and will be an amazing spot to vacation during spring break.
