Dyer County gets home victory over Munford on senior night

The Dyer County Choctaws played the Munford Cougars at home for senior night in Newbern. It was a close contest throughout, but the Choctaws recorded 10 hits on their way to a 10-7 victory over the visiting Cougars.

Munford took the first lead in the top of the opening frame with two runs.

Dyer County quickly took the lead back with five runs in the opening inning to set the score at 5-2 going into the second.

Munford could not continue the offensive production as they went scoreless in the second inning.

The Choctaws on the other hand did keep it going with three more runs in the bottom half of the second. Dyer County led by six at 8-2 after two frames.

The Cougars cut into the lead with a single run in the top of the third inning.

Munford continued into the fourth inning with three more runs. The Choctaws answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Dyer County held a four-run lead going into the top of the fifth inning.

Dyer County held off the Cougars for the next two innings, until Munford scored again in the top of the seventh.

It wasn’t enough however, as the Choctaws came away with another home victory.

Drae Stafford led Dyer County with two hits. Kole Fenton had two RBIs on the night to lead the Choctaws while Kobi Gibson pitched six innings and had three strikeouts.
