Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that recently Queen Elizabeth II has died. Said to be by natural causes, she passed away on Sep 8th, 2022 in Balmoral castle.

During her grandfather’s reign, Elizabeth was 3rd in line for the throne. Behind her uncle, Edward, and her father, George. She was not expected to become queen, for her uncle was still young and still could have had an heir, who could have been before her. In 1936, her grandfather passed and her uncle became King Edward Vlll. Later that same year, Edward abdicated, after his proposed marriage to Wallis Simpson. Consequently, her father became King George Vl. Since she had no brothers, she was next in line for the throne. 

Queen Elizabeth ll had ruled since she was twenty-five, causing her to have been the longest ruling monarch of the British monarch. Also making her the longest-recorded female head of state.
