The Story of Eliza Fletcher

Jenna Wallace

Eliza Fletcher was a 34 year old mother of two and kindergarten teacher. She was very active and enjoyed physical activity. She went for runs almost every day in the same area. She was very content and never had a care in the world when she was running. That was until the Friday morning of September 2, 2o22. Eliza was on her usual morning jog, when she was suddenly abducted around 4:30 A.M. She was last seen wearing a pink tank top and purple skirt. She was described as 5’6 and weighing 137 pounds and having blonde hair and green eyes. She was found dead a couple weeks later after her disappearance.

Cleotha Abston Henderson, 38, was arrested two days after she was found. He was charged with aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He was seen on surveillance footage cleaning a GMC Terrain SUV for nearly an hour and a half on the day she went missing. The same vehicle someone described Eliza to be forced into when she went missing.

Two months after her body was found, her autopsy came back. Her cause of death was a bullet to the back of her head. Though that is what killed her, she also suffered jaw fractures and blunt force injuries to her right leg.
