On December 6, 2022, the 48th ceremony of the People’s Choice Awards was held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Nominations for the awards were released on October 26, 2022, but the winners were not announced until this night- except for three awards. The People’s Icon, The People’s Champion, and The Music Icon winners were announced prior to the ceremony and were given to Ryan Reynolds, Lizzo, and Shania Twain, respectively. 

     With nominees of Bullet Train, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Elvis, Jurassic World Dominion, Nope, The Batman, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Top Gun: Maverick, the Movie of 2022 was awarded to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Adam Project won Comedy Movie of 2022, Top Gun: Maverick won Action Movie of 2022, and Don’t Worry Darling won Drama Movie of 2022. Chris Hemsworth was awarded Male Movie Star of 2022 for his role in Thor: Love and Thunder. For Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Elizabeth Olsen was awarded Female Movie Star of 2022; Olsen also received Action Movie Star of 2022 for the same movie. Austin Butler won Drama Movie Star of 2022 for Elvis and Adam Sandler won Comedy Movie Star of 2022 for Hustle. 

     With nominees of Abbott Elementary, Better Call Saul, Grey’s Anatomy, House of the Dragon, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Saturday Night Live, Stranger Things, and This Is Us, Stranger Things was awarded The Show of 2022. Grey’s Anatomy won Drama Show of 2022, Never Have I Ever won Comedy Show of 2022, The Kardashians won Reality show of 2022, and The Voice won Competition Show of 2022. Noah Schnapp received Male TV Star of 2022 for his role on Stranger Things; Ellen Pompeo received Female TV Star of 2022 for her role on Grey’s Anatomy. Mariska Hargitay won Drama TV Star of 2022 for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Selena Gomez won Comedy TV Star of 2022 for Only Murders in the Building. Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story received Bingeworthy Show of 2022 and Stranger Things received Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show of 2022. The Kelly Clarkson Show was awarded Daytime Talk Show of 2022 and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was awarded Nighttime Talk Show of 2022.
