In August of 2022, the first trailer for the new movie came out to the public, and people were shocked. A.A. Milne’s beloved children’s books show Winnie the Pooh as this honey-loving bear, and Piglet as a kindhearted animal, that loves to keep things tidy and clean. The new movie has absolutely no relation to A.A. Milne nor Disney. The director, the writer, and co-producer of the new film, Rhys Frake-Waterfeild, says that “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” is a horror film starring Pooh and Piglet as “the main villains going on a rampage” after being abandoned by a college-bound Christopher Robin. While Robin was away at school, the two once-loveable pals turned “feral” in their quest for food and survival. The film was shot in 10 days in England, not far from Ashdown Forest, the inspiration for Milne’s imaginary Hundred Acre Wood in the “Winnie the Pooh” stories. In the new movie, Pooh is silent, wielding knives and chloroform, while angrily seeking revenge again his one-time human BFF, Christopher Robin.  The release date for this film has not been announced as of today. How is it even possible that this is happening to the silly old bear who famously said “A hug is always the right size”? And will Disney, who acquired the Pooh characters in 1961, be upset that these people are using their characters (loosely) to make their horror story?
