On New Year’s day in Nashville, TN, Metro Police had to make an arrest relating to a carjacking which resulted in a kidnapping. The victim was found and was treated at the Vanderbilt Medical Center with minor injuries. According to the victim, suspect Mohamed Omar walked into the store, approached him, then proceeded to fire 3 gunshots into the ground, one which hit the victim’s foot. Then the suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the victim’s head and demanded his wallet, then took the victim to his own car, stole it, and held the victim hostage in it. Shortly after Metro Police got a call for a stolen vehicle driving erratically. This is when the police pursued the car, got it pulled over, then rescued the victim.

The officers located the weapon used, a Smith & Wesson gun with four spent cartridge casings still contained in it near the area of which the suspect Omar fled. Omar was caught and held in the Metro jail and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, theft over $2,500, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest. He eventually was released after somehow paying his $190,000 bond.
