The first season of Outer Banks had 35.1 million hours of viewing. Outer Banks fans were relieved to find out that season two would be released in July of 2021. 

Season two of the show came out on July 30, 2021. Season two currently has 23.8 million hours of viewing time. Fans were left on a cliffhanger in season two and most were eager for the return of Outer Banks. Rumors began stating that Outer Banks wasn’t producing any more seasons after season two. The rumors stopped when Netflix announced they were filming season three. 

Season three came out on February 23, 2023, and has raced the poll to number one on Netflix again. There has been controversy about season three. Some have been pleased and are awaiting another season while some people say season three could have been better. There has also been a rumor that Madelyn Cline, who plays a main role in the show, will not be coming back for the next season. It is unknown if these rumors hold any truth.
