Dyer County Golf teed off at the Farms on Monday for their District Tournament. The team was led by Ben Shelton who came in with a 78 which was good for 4th overall score individually. Coming in right behind him was Dalton McGuire and Evan Lee with scores of 80 which was a tie for 5th overall. To round out the top 4 scorers, Landon Mobley came in with an 83. The team’s score was a 321 which is the best tournament score in the team’s history.

Even though the team put up a good showing, the team’s score was only good enough for 2nd as Crockett County shot a 302 to take the District title for the second year in a row. Crockett was led by Senior JJ Zimmer who shot a 69 which was the best overall score for the tournament. Ashton Elmore came in behind Zimmer with a 75. Gray Campbell shot a 76 to become Crockett’s third scorer and Cash Piatt rounded out their top 4 with an 80.

South Gibson secured the 3rd and final team spot to advance to regionals with a 255. Taylor Henderson (Covington) 82, Levi Poindexter (Mumford) 82, Zack Mangrum (Dyersburg) 85, Tyler Madden (Dyersburg) 88, and Holden Warmath (Covington) 90 have all advanced to regionals as individuals as their team scores didn’t let them go as a team.

With the performance that DC showed Monday, the team will play in the Regional Tournament next week at Pickwick Landing as they look to stop Crockett from back-to-back Regional Titles.
