Dyer County Golf played Monday, September 28th at Pickwick Landing for the Regional Title. Unfortunately, they fell just short of that title. The team played really well despite the conditions they were handed with the drop in temperatures and heavy rain. The team will look to move forward and make it to state next year.

Ben Shelton came in with a 79 which led the team. Landon Mobley came in right behind him with an 82. Evan Lee showed a strong performance early on, but slowly dwindled away on the back which led to his scoring of 84. Dalton McGuire had a rough day as the conditions were rough on him and he came in with a score of 91. The team total score ended up being 336 which was good enough to give them the runner-up title. Shelton’s score was good enough to give him 2nd individual and he will advance to the 2-day state tournament next week in Manchester, Tennessee.

The Crockett County Cavaliers captured the Regional title with a strong showing as a team with a 313 team score. The team was led by JJ Zimmer which shot a 71. Gray Campbell followed up with a strong showing of 74. Ashton Elmore and Cash Piatt came in behind them with a solid showing of 84. Crockett will move on as a team to the 2-day state tournament next week.

It was a strong showing as a team this year for the Choctaws as they set records along the way. It was a tough year from not knowing if they would play to playing almost every match/tournament scheduled. It is sad to see it come to an end, but the Choctaws will look to improve next year and get over that big hurdle to make it to state.
