Dyer County gets blowout win over Fayette-Ware

The Dyer County Choctaw soccer team picked up a win over Fayette-Ware on Tuesday night in Somerville. The Choctaws racked up six goals in the match while only conceding one goal to the Wildcats. Luke Williams scored five goals in the evening with Jacob Hampton assisting on three of them.

Williams opened the game with a breakaway goal to give Dyer County a 1-0 lead early in the half.

Williams scored again with just under 25 minutes played. A bad touch from a Wildcat defender allowed Williams to gain control of the ball at the midfield, run it down, and put it past the goalkeeper.

Williams scored one more before the half expired to give Dyer County a commanding 3-0 lead going into the break.

In the 42nd minute of the game Fayette-Ware on goaled on a cross from Tyler Fowlkes intended for Gabriel Jackson. The Choctaws now had four goals with the help from the Wildcats.

Hampton stepped up to take a free kick in the 55th minute and sent the ball over the Fayette-Ware defenders to Williams where he scored his fourth goal of the game.

Shortly after in the 57th minute Williams scored the final goal of the match after he stole the ball from a defender at the top of the box and once again was alone with the goalie.

Fayette-Ware did avoid a shutout with a goal in the 78th minute, but the Choctaws still came away with the 6-1 win.
