The week of 4/10-4/14 was an exciting week for DC baseball. They got to battle our biggest rival, Dyersburg. The baseball team started off that week playing Dyersburg at their field, the Tom Mathis field, on Monday night (4/10). Dyer County took the lead late in this game. They got things moving in the second inning when Tyler Rogers hit a ground ball, scoring one run. In the second inning, the Trojans tied things up when Alex Paige hit a single, also scoring one run. The Choctaws trailed 2-1 for most of the game. Then, in the top of the sixth inning, J.D Binkley doubled, scoring two runs. Trey Tarkington was on the mound for the Choctaws. He surrendered two runs on four hits, striking out ten and walking one. Jake Stanley pitched most of the game for the Trojans. He pitched five innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out five and walking one. Then Tyler Lawson came in and threw the next two innings in relief. Dyer County totaled ten hits during this game. Landon Willis, Austin Epperson, and Kole Fenton all had multiple hits. The game ended with Dyer County at five runs and Dyersburg at two runs.  

Their next game against Dyersburg was the following night, Tuesday night. This game was held at Dyer County’s field. The game was a close one with the Choctaws ending with 6 runs and the Trojans ending with 5. Dyer County started off the game not allowing Dyersburg any runs in the first inning and also scoring one run after Talon Messer doubled and then advanced home. For most of the game, Dyer County kept Dyersburg at 0 runs but in the fourth inning they allowed Dyersburg to score 5 runs, which was the only inning they scored in during this game. Dyersburg’s runs and hits in the fourth inning were led by Seth Daniels, Jordan Williamson, Breyden Turnage, and Tyler Lawson. Then, in the bottom of the fifth inning, Dyer County tied up the game after Drew Ladd doubled, scoring 2 runs. Austin Epperson led the Choctaws on the mound for all seven innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out four. For Dyersburg, Breyden Turnage led things off on the mound, surrendering five runs on five hits in five innings, striking out seven. Then Brady Byars came in relief and threw one and two-thirds innings. Kole Fenton led Dyer County with two hits in four at-bats. Dyersburg totaled nine hits during this game with Williamson, Turnage, and Dunn each collecting multiple hits. This game ended with Dyer County at 6 runs and Dyersburg at five runs, leaving the Choctaws with their second win against the Dyersburg Trojans.
