Where is My Mind?

Where+is+My+Mind%3F

The Pixies’ most popular song begs the question, “Where is my mind?” It is a question many people ask themselves when they feel scatterbrained or can’t remember certain details. The question can very easily be paired with the phrase, “I’ve lost my mind.” It’s obviously impossible to lose one’s brain; however, one can lose one’s state of mind.

It’s no secret how often people change their opinions. One could enjoy a show as a child and dislike the show later in life. This is a more common example, but it can be seen with everything. One could be bigoted and learn the er of their ways. One could go through a traumatic experience and become more paranoid. Changes are always happening in one’s mind. Some of the changes happen over a long period of time; other changes can happen in moments.

A change from childhood to adulthood is a change that takes many years. There are several rapid changes throughout that time period as well. A change in mood is a far quicker change. Events can change from a good day to a bad one and vice versa. The changes can be quick, but they are almost always noticeable. Some of the changes are inevitable, but many of the changes are an active choice that must be made.

One can make a choice to be a more optimistic or pessimistic person. They can choose what they wish to think about. One can choose to be a kind or a rude person. They can choose how they wish to treat others. Choices are a huge part of our state of mind. Many people don’t actually think about the choices they make. People will do something and often don’t think about why they did it. They do the same thing when it comes to thinking. People often don’t think about their thinking.

The question, “Where is my mind?” is a good question to ask. Don’t ask it when you feel scatterbrained or can’t remember something. Ask the question when a reminder of where your state of mind is. Many people would be happier when they think about their thinking and change it for the better.
