HOSA stands for Health Occupations Students of America and each year every state hosts a convention for HOSA members to compete in their competitions.
Each competition has different topics that you may have to test, write, or present on. Each competition will have a top 5 that get recognized but only the top 3 advance to the international competition to compete against other countries.
Tennessee HOSA’s state conference was hosted this past week and was successful for most competitors from Dyer County High School and one competitor (Lily Flagg) advanced to nationals that will be hosted in Houston, Texas.
Involvement in HOSA is seen quite favorably, especially for a student with pre-med interests. It’s an excellent way to demonstrate your commitment to and passion for the healthcare field.
I encourage you to join HOSA because it is a wonderful organization that will help you develop effective leadership qualities and skills by developing character and promoting responsible citizenship. Build self-confidence, motivation, and enthusiasm. Strengthen your academic and technical skills. Create friendships and social networks.
