FaZe Clan are finally back in form, with a resurgence to the top looming in the background for the international roster for a while now. Although Justin “jks” Savage stood in for Havard “rain” Nygaard during the event, the Australian helped FaZe past great competition in the matches leading up to the grand final against G2 Esports. A lengthy match, the gauntlet that was the grand final of IEM Katowice 2022 was one that will be remembered for years to come. FaZe had to greatly outlast G2 in the marathon of a match that was held between the two international organizations. All of this and more culminated in a 3-0 win in the best-of-five final for FaZe Clan.

The first map, Inferno, saw G2 Esports climb to a great initial lead, with a 11-4 score at halftime in favor of G2. However, FaZe started an initial climb back to close the gap of rounds, with many individuals on the roster stepping up in clutch moments to help secure those crucial victories, ending in a 19-15 overtime victory for FaZe. The second map, Mirage, started off in the opposite way, with FaZe riding their momentum to an early lead and G2 having to battle back bit by bit after halftime. However, FaZe’s momentum was too much combined with their early lead and after a historic 4 overtimes, FaZe eventually outlasted G2 with a 31-27 scoreline. The third map ended in a 14-16 victory for FaZe as well, with G2 claiming many rounds and not making the eventual series victory for FaZe well earned.

The tournament saw Helvijs “broky” Saukants take home the MVP medal, with a rating of 1.09 during the tournament with the AWP. Though the first MVP earned by the Latvian, this could be the first of many if FaZe continue on their current form. However, their current form is also to be questioned, as many attribute FaZe’s success during the tournament to stand-in Justin “jks” Savage, who stood in for long time roster member Havard “rain” Nygaard. However, for as many rounds that “jks” secured for FaZe, the new pickup Robin “ropz” Kool, secured just as many. Regardless of whether or not the factors were played into, the future is bright for FaZe clan.
