Taylor Swift’s “Midnights”

Taylor Swifts Midnights

On August 28th, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift announced the release of her tenth album “Midnights.” This surprise album is set to come out on October 21st. She revealed the album during a speech, as she accepted “Video of the Year” at the MTV Video Music Awards. The track titles for the album are listed as “Track One,” “Track Two,” and so on, up until “Track Thirteen.” On midnight of September 21st, she started the release of videos, entitled “Midnight Mayhem With Me.” These TikTok videos are made to tell of the new track titles, one song at a time; this night’s song was track thirteen’s “Mastermind.”

Since the beginning of her career, Taylor Swift has been known to drop “easter eggs,” or clues, to help the listener try and figure out what the song titles are, who the featured artists are, etc. So far, Swift has posted a video of herself on social media, behind the scenes, making the album. But the video has a song in the background, titled “life you lead” by niceboy ed. Fans are starting to question who this artist’s true identity is, as this is their debut song. It could be Swift’s boyfriend Joe Alwyn, her co-producer Jack Antonoff, former featured artist Bon Iver, or even someone totally different. For now, their identity will stay hidden and the connection to “Midnights” will remain unknown but Swift will continue to drop hints about what her newest album is truly about.
