At CES on January 4, Sony unveiled their new car brand in collaboration with Honda called “Afeela”. Together they released a super futuristic looking car that is expected to be on the roads in the U.S. by 2026. This car has a whopping 45 cameras and sensors placed around it and has an entire PS5 incorporated into it, allowing for major processing power. The concept itself is a relatively standard-issue EV design with a low profile and aerodynamic wheel. Sony also plans to open up the EV to partnerships with customers and “our automotive industry partners,” Sony said. With this being Honda’s second ever fully-electric vehicle, this is surely going to be an exciting vehicle when it comes out. Sony’s industry-leading software is going to make this vehicle compete with luxury car companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Tesla. If they can keep up with other brands, it is sure to be a success. Although we don’t know much about the new car, we do know that it should have some level of autonomous driving, allowing the driver to take their hands off the wheel and let the car do the work. This car is also supposed to be pricey, probably coming in over $100,000. Even though it will be 3 more years before we start seeing this car on the road, everyone is already excited for what’s to come.
