Jennifer Levin is an 18-year-old girl who was found dead at a park. On August 26, 1986, Jennifer went to Dorrians Red Hand, a popular bar in New York. She left the bar with Robert Chambers whom she was aquatinted with. Chambers was a college dropout and had grown up in a wealthy area although his family was not wealthy. Chambers had been involved with alcohol and drugs since he was just a teenager. He allegedly stole to fund his drug problem getting him kicked out of multiple private schools. After leaving with Chambers a witness said they spotted the two of them headed to Central Park. The next morning Jennifer’s body was found by a cyclist under a tree at the park. Her body was badly bruised and only partially clothed. A witness claimed they saw a man in that vicinity looking at the scene that fit the description of Chambers. Police got this information and questioned his friends but his friends claimed he had nothing to do with the murder. However, later that day he made a written confession as well as a videotape admitting to the crime. He claimed he accidentally killed her after she hurt him during sexual intercourse at the park. An autopsy was performed and it was proven that Jennifer died from being strangled.

There was a trial and Chambers pleaded not guilty but soon withdrew and pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Chambers’ time in prison was anything but smooth. He was caught smuggling drugs and spent a lot of his time in confinement. After serving his full sentence he was released in 2003. His freedom didn’t last long after being arrested in 2008 for selling drugs and being sentenced to 19 years in prison. He is currently still serving his time behind bars.
