Her Mistake

Her Mistake

She sat in her messy bedroom, she couldn’t believe what happened today. She felt like her world was falling apart. She knew it was life but she couldn’t grasp that. Her heart hurt, her eyes red from crying and even more her body hurt from the amount of times she threw up. This isn’t how life is supposed to be, this isn’t how she pictured herself right now. She just wanted to disappear and never come back. Thinking of the ways she could just leave, the sobbing girl slowly fell asleep.
Soft humming could be heard, the girl woke up and looked around. Rubbing her sensitive eyes as she slowly got up from her bed. The windows to her room showing the beautiful moon, stars scattering the dark blue sky. It was so pretty. Her body still hurt but she didn’t care. She wanted to know why someone was humming in her house. Her feet slid across the wooden floor, her pale shaky hands lightly rubbing against the walls as she walked to the noise. It was her house, she knew her way around but it felt off to her, she felt like something was different. Making her way to the kitchen, her hand opened the door. Seeing the figure of her mother with a pan in her hand, facing the stove. “Mom?” the girl’s voice rang out. Taking steps towards the woman she felt comfortable, seeing someone who knew she wasn’t okay. That was until the woman turned around. “Oh my sweet Bella girl. Sleep well?” a smiling figure of what was supposed to be like her mother stared at Bella. Her blood went cold, “You’re not my mom, she doesn’t have buttons..” The mother laughed softly before setting the hot pan onto the ground. “I’m your other mother, now go get your other father and we can start eating” The figure spoke, it had the same voice as her mother but it wasn’t. Bella turned and walked towards where the other mother was pointing, getting closer to a door she remembered but brought bad memories. “Your dad died yesterday, he isn’t gonna be in here” Bella told herself softly, she felt her heart start to race as she pushed the door open quickly before seeing the figure of what her dad used to look like. “Dad..” Her voice broke as her eyes started to tear up, filling with salty tears she wished would stop coming. The figure of her dad turned around, having light blue buttons instead of her dads normal light blue eyes. “Oh bella! I just got one-hundred points in my video game, you want to join?” His voice sounded just like her real fathers.
“Uhm, mom, or whatever she wants me to come get you for food.” Bellas voice rang out with an uneasy tone. Her buttoned eyed dad stood up with his normal goofy smile. “Ah, I’m starving, I could eat a whole horse right now” His laughter made Bellas heartbreak more. The other dad ruffled her hair as he walked past her, Bella felt like her world was crashing. How could her brain do this to her? How could it want her to hurt more than she already was. Her salty tears started to drop from her blue eyes. Her heart was hurting more and more. What is going on and what is this dream? “You coming bella-bug?’ Her other father spoke, this caught Bellas attention. She nodded and walked behind the imposter of her father. Making her way to the dining table her parents or who looked like her parents sat down, which told her to also sit down. The table had her favorite meal, Bang Bang Shrimp. It was a noodle and shrimp dinner with spicy sauce covering everything. Bellas other mom made her plate and smiled, “Is that enough or do you want some more?” Bella just nodded before looking down, she heard the imposter of her father speak to the other mother, her heart felt like it was going to explode into little tiny pieces, making it hard for her to ever love anyone again. This dream or twisted prank was making Bella lose her mind.
“I’m not hungry..I’m going to go to bed” Bellas weak voice spoke out as she stood up and heard both of her other parents just say okay and goodnight. Bella went to her room that she had originally woke up in, covering herself up completely, she let her body relax and she fell asleep. Waking up the next morning to her room once again, this time all she could hear was the tweeting of birds and her mother downstairs getting ready for work. Even though her father died, they still had to go to work and school. They had to continue on with life, it’s what he would’ve wanted. Getting ready as always, she felt her day was already going to be crappy, she knew she was not going to be able to do all of what she needed to do but it was okay. She would make it. That’s exactly what she did, she made it. The day ended just as slowly as it had started, her eyes drooped, giving her mother a kiss on the head as she walked past her in the kitchen, her body automatically went to her bedroom. Ignoring all the photos on the wall that consisted of her father and them. Slamming her body onto the bed she found to be her comfort place, her body relaxed and she was gone.
Waking up in her bed once again, she heard the same type of humming from the night before. “This dream” She thought to herself, laying her head down, closing her eyes and trying to not do anything in this dream. It hurt seeing her father all happy, and alive. He was gone and that’s all he could be. Why did her brain want her to be hurt like this? Why did it want her to completely break down and apart? There was a subtle knock on the door of her bedroom, she groaned, “Come in” thinking she was now actually awake. “Bella-girl?” Her mothers voice rang through the room, Bella turned her head and looked at her mother, or who she thought was her mother. Button eyes quickly made their way into her focus and she felt sick to her stomach. “Come on, dinner is ready and after that your father wants to take you out on a hike.” her father, someone who in the real world was gone. But here, he was alive and healthy. She should use this to keep her father close until this dream stops.
As the week went on, she felt the hurt she had about her father disappear. This other father was the same as her father in the real world, the other mother actually paid her attention, she was happy in this world. She never wanted to leave. As the three of them sat at the table, the other mother had a box in her hand, “So my Bella-girl, I have a gift for you.” The box was pushed towards Bella, she rapidly opened it and frowned. “Buttons?” her eyes went to her other mother, she was confused. “Yes, if you want to stay here, just let me give you buttons and you can be like us.” The other mother had a sweet smile on her face. The other father nodded and spoke up, “Yes, we can go playing, draw, and even more forever if you’d like” Bella looked at the buttoned up father, she smiled softly. This didn’t seem like a bad idea, she could stay with her father or something similar to her father. She would get noticed and loved, she would be happy. “Yes, i’ll let you give me buttons’ ‘ Bella’s voice was soft, her smile small but noticeable.
This was her last time, she never saw her mother again. She never did anything again. Her world went black, she should’ve told them no. She now lays in one of the rooms of the other mothers house, her life eaten up and her body no more. She and the others who fell to the other mothers trap were stuck in the world that nothing mattered. Until, a girl was put into the room they laid for eternity.
