Graduation Tickets

Graduation Tickets

Katie Stover and Mia Townsend

Dear Administration,
After finding out the limited amount of graduation tickets that we will be receiving this year, there has been some unrest among the senior class. To say it is upsetting would be a great understatement. After all, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event, one that we’ve worked hard towards the last four years. Most of us are already planning our outfits and graduation parties, but the hardest thing for us to decide is which of our loved ones gets to see us walk. Most of us have large families, it’s just very common in the south. With that being said, six tickets makes it extremely hard for us. We’re proud of our accomplishments and we want to share that with the people we care about. However, due to the limit on tickets, many of us have to pick and choose between loved ones. We understand that COVID-19 has forced us to limit tickets for the past two years, but COVID isn’t as big of a concern now. We’ve returned to a mostly normal school year. We no longer have to wear masks, social distancing isn’t even a thought anymore, and most importantly we have sports games and school events with no restrictions. With that being said we don’t believe COVID is a concern when it comes to graduation. We do understand the need to limit tickets, as some people would try to bring their entire extended family. However, six seems a little unfair and unrealistic. When thinking about graduation and who to invite many of us were imagining to have at least ten tickets. This number is limited but also a fair amount for us. We think it should also be taken into consideration that we are the smallest graduating senior class, and it should also be considered that not everyone student will use all of their tickets. As graduation is on the football field, we do believe that there is enough room for ten tickets. We know administration works hard to plan graduation, and we appreciate the work you do for us. However, as this is such an important event for us we do feel the need to address our wish for more tickets. We understand that wish may never be fulfilled but it is so important to us we had to address our issue. We believe that there is room for an additional four tickets and that it would be a fair amount for us.

Sincerely,
Seniors
